With an incredible 160-year history of providing high-quality education and training across the borough, and over 70 years of delivering higher education, Wigan & Leigh College is at the heart of our community. As the only general Further Education College serving Wigan and Leigh, the College plays a vital role in equipping over 14,000 students every year with the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in their chosen careers.
A cornerstone of education and opportunity
Operating from several sites across Wigan and Leigh, the College provides an inclusive, wide-ranging curriculum – from entry-level courses to postgraduate qualifications – serving a population of more than 300,000. With its University Centre status and partnership with The University of Central Lancashire (University of Lancashire), students graduating from higher education courses at Wigan & Leigh College earn degrees awarded by a leading UK university.

The team at Wigan Borough Business Awards are proud to have Wigan & Leigh College as a returning supporter of the Wigan Borough Business Awards. Last year, the College’s students contributed to the evening’s success by helping in the set up and delivery on awards night. Students also created beautiful flower arrangements for the event. Louise Brown, Vice Principal for Corporate Services has also served as an independent judge for the awards for the past two years – generously lending her expertise to the process of recognising excellence across our borough.
