Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all participants, nominees, sponsors, and attendees of the Wigan Borough Business Awards (“Event”). By participating in or attending the Event, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read these Terms carefully.

Eligibility:
Participation in the Wigan Borough Business Awards is open to businesses and individuals based in Wigan and its surrounding areas.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for entry into the Wigan Borough Business Awards 2025, businesses must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Be located within Wigan Borough.

Provide goods or services to Wigan Borough businesses or residents.

Employ a significant number of local residents.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to the borough, such as supporting local charities, sponsoring community organisations, or actively contributing to the local economy.
Entries will be assessed based on their impact and involvement within Wigan Borough, ensuring that the awards truly celebrate those who help make our business community thrive.
Nominees must also comply with the specific criteria outlined for each award category.

Nominations:
Nominations must be submitted online through the official Wigan Borough Business Awards website during the designated nomination period. Nominees will then be contacted via email to advise that they have been nominated, along with information about the category and how to progress the nomination to entry stage. Incomplete or late nominations may not be considered. Nomination information will remain anonymous. -
Entries:
Entry submissions must be completed online by the specified deadline which is displayed on the website and within the nomination email.
The entry should include all supporting evidence, documentation, and any additional information required to demonstrate eligibility and achievements for the relevant award category. Incomplete or late entries may not be considered. All entries will be treated confidentially and assessed fairly based on the judging criteria. -
Judging Process:
The judging process is conducted by an independent panel of industry experts and professionals. Judging forms two parts, the first of which involves application forms being scored by judges, a shortlist of entrants will then be formed and this shortlist will then be asked to attend in in-person interview where they have an opportunity to present their business further. The interview is a 20 minute slot, made up of a 15 minute presentation, with a further 5 minutes allocated for judges to ask any questions they may have. Should you be unable to attend an in-person interview you will be given an opportunity to attend an interview online, or provide a video which judges will review together during your allocated time slot. All information supplied will remain confidential at all notes and will not be shared with an 3rd parties. The decisions of the judges are final. Sponsorship:
Sponsors are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in separate sponsorship agreements.
The Wigan Borough Business Awards organisers reserve the right to refuse or terminate sponsorship agreements at their discretion. -
Event Attendance:
Attendance at the awards evening is not mandatory. Participants are free to enter the awards without attending the event. Ticket prices for the awards evening in 2026 are £75 per person. Tickets must be purchased separately and are subject to availability. There are no other associated costs for entering the awards beyond ticket purchase if attending the event. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any attendee from the Event for inappropriate behaviour.

Photography and Media:
By participating in the Event, you consent to being photographed or recorded for promotional and media purposes. The organisers retain the right to use photographs, videos, or other media captured during the Event for promotional purposes. -
Changes to the Event:
The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the Event schedule, program, or other details without prior notice. In the event of unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, the organisers may cancel, reschedule, or modify the Event. -
Liability:
Participants, nominees, sponsors, and attendees participate in the Event at their own risk. The organisers are not liable for any loss, injury, damage, or expenses incurred as a result of participation in or attendance at the Event. -
Compliance with Laws:
Participants, nominees, sponsors, and attendees must comply with all applicable laws and regulations during their involvement in the Event. -
Data Protection:
The organisers will process personal data in accordance with relevant data protection laws. By participating in the Event, you consent to the processing of your personal data for Event-related purposes. -
Governing Law:
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.
By participating in Wigan Borough Business Awards, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. The organisers reserve the right to amend these Terms at their discretion. Any changes will be communicated through the official channels6
