Wigan Borough Business Awards announce exciting new format for 2026

Wigan Borough Business Awards, the borough’s independently organised, accreditation-backed celebration of business excellence has officially launched its 2026 programme, introducing an exciting new feature: Wigan Borough Business Awards Hall of Recognition.

Founded by Professionals of Wigan (POW) and Fubhub (Females Uniting in Business), in partnership with Digital Partner ATTAIN, the awards continue to champion the outstanding organisations and individuals who are shaping the future of Wigan Borough.

Following a sell-out 2025 event, which brought together local leaders for an incredible evening of celebration and connection, WBBA now moves into 2026 with a stronger-than-ever commitment to showcasing meaningful impact, leadership, growth, and excellence across the region.

For the first time, Wigan Borough Business Awards is introducing the Hall of Recognition – a new initiative designed to truly recognise and celebrate those who are making a positive impact within the borough’s business community.

Members of the public, colleagues, and fellow professionals can now put forward individuals or businesses who deserve to be acknowledged for their contribution across one of the official award categories.

Every person recognised will receive:

  • A personalised announcement email
  • A digital graphic to share across their platforms
  • Inclusion in the Hall of Recognition 2026 webpage (with the option to opt out)

Those recognised will then have the opportunity to formally enter the 2026 awards.

This new approach highlights genuine contribution, peer recognition, and borough-wide impact, celebrating achievements that truly make a difference.

Award Entries Now Open

As of today, entries for WBBA 2026 are officially open.

Businesses, social enterprises, charities, and professionals across Wigan Borough are invited to submit entries aligned to one of the award categories, where each entry will be assessed by an independent judging panel to ensure fairness, credibility, and integrity throughout the process.

The awards continue to be centred around:

  • Excellence
  • Collaboration
  • Local leadership
  • Positive, measurable impact

Wigan Borough Business Awards remains committed to showcasing achievements that truly matter to the borough’s future. Following the huge success of the 2025 awards at Brick Community Stadium, supported by 36 sponsors, 15 supporters, 6 partners, and reaching thousands online, the 2026 event will continue to focus on quality and meaningful engagement.

Our aim is to create a celebration that truly honours local business achievements, fostering connections and recognising excellence across the borough. With strictly limited capacity to preserve quality and experience, the evening promises yet another unforgettable night of celebration, entertainment, and business connection.

“Wigan Borough Business Awards has always been about celebrating the businesses and individuals making a real difference. This year, with our Hall of Recognition, we’re putting the focus on genuine contribution, peer respect, and borough-wide impact, recognising those whose achievements truly make a difference to our local business community.” Jamie Grimshaw, Co-Founder of POW and WBBA
